Origin Story

I have been taking photos for as long as I can remember; using my dad's Pentax's from a young age and eventually he bought me one of my own, then another then another. I shot digital photos for quite sometime until one day we took a family holiday...

It all started in an antique shop in Coolangatta on the Gold Coast in 2016, where I stumbled upon an old, beat up, Kodak Retinette 1A. (Actually that's a lie - I totally saw a different camera first, a Kodak Instamatic, but upon finding the Retinette it was soon put back on the shelf). I was ready to go, having bought my non-functioning Retinette, knowing exactly which shelf it was going to live on back home - purely for decorative purposes. I was stopped short leaving the store by my brother as he pulled me over to a glass cabinet where he pointed out a Diax IIB to me.

"I've already got one"

I remember saying...knowing full well the Kodak's only purpose was to be decorative. Only problem was, the Diax was absolutely stunning - once I saw the tiny little tag with the one glorious word "working" hanging off it, well, I had to have a closer look. It's safe to say I left that antique store with two cameras that day...
